Forensic Psychology Advice
Clients seeking advice in regards to parenting issues related Family Court situations are charged at a specialist skills rate and depending on whether it is treatment related or legally related will determine whether GST applies
I am currently only seeing a limited number of clients for brief strategic therapy. Therapy for treatment is generally GST exempt as it is classed as a medical service. A standard appointment lasts 50 minutes. Members of private health insurance companies may find that they are covered under ancillary policies. The rebate rate should be checked with the insurer but rates generally range between $44 and $70 per session.
Workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident insurance case may be seen but it is important to note the liability for payment rests with the individual client and you will need a referral from your treating GP
Dr Watts can provide Medicare rebates to patients who are referred by a private treating consultant Psychiatrist, consultant paediatrician or by a General Practitioner who prepare a GP Mental Health Care Plan. This will entitle you to six sessions of rebates and after a review by a GP, another 4 sessions per calendar year.
The current rebate is around $125 per 50 minutes or longer session
A cancellation fee may be charged if 24 hours notice is not given.
Assessments for the Family Court, or assessment for presentence, immigration, or criminal injuries, are generally charged on an hourly rate. I do some work for legal aid at reduced rates. Please contact my office directly for estimates of costs for reports.
The recommended fee for attendance at court is costed by the APS at 1.5 times the scheduled fee.
Please note that legal assessments attract GST charges as only treatment is GST exempt
I am available to conduct training on both a half or full day basis. For interstate and overseas requests, travel expenses as well as appearance costs need to be considered.
